Threaded nozzles are typically offered with tapered pipe threads. NPT and BSPT threads are the most common. Other thread types are available for selected nozzles.

Standard hydraulic nozzles range in connection size from 1/8” threaded nozzles up to those with 12” flange connections. Larger connection sizes typically have larger flow rates but a wide variety of configurations are available to meet your application needs.

Different nozzle types are _**“rated”**_ at various pressures, depending on the function of the nozzle and the pressure at which a spray pattern is fully formed. The flow rate (typically measured in gallons per minute or liters per minute) at the rated pressure (measured in pounds per square inch or bar) is highlighted in catalog performance tables and can serve as a reference point for comparing different nozzles.

The pressure (measured in pounds per square inch or bar) at which reference flow rate and spray angle data are taken.

Rated Pressure

Many hydraulic spray nozzles include a numeric capacity size in the part number. Capacity size is often related to the flow rate of the nozzle at the rated spray pressure for that nozzle. For example, the capacity size for a 1/4HH10 FullJet® nozzle is “10”, which reflects a 1.0 gpm flow rate at 10 psi.

Product Type

Spray nozzles are manufactured from a wide variety of materials that have been determined to meet the usual requirements of the applications most commonly associated with that type of nozzle. Standard materials include brass, steel, various stainless steels, hardened stainless steels, many plastics and various carbides. Spray nozzles can also be supplied in other materials upon special request. Materials of construction affect nozzle wear life and resistance to corrosion and abrasion.

Material Composition

Threaded nozzles are available with male (external) threads or female (internal) threads.

Inlet Connection Gender

Most nozzles are available with NPT or BSPT connections. Other threaded connections are available on select nozzles and additional connection types, such as flange and quick-connect, are also common. Some nozzles are also available with sanitary connections.
